Some ideas

Post by meng lee » Tue Dec 25, 2007 1:48 am

Hi, I am new to this forum, but I have a number of Shoestring Astronomy products already, and I have been very satisfied with them. However I do have some ideas that may make things more convenient.

1) Is it possible to have "a big black box" having GPUSB, FCUSB, DSUSB in one? I am afraid that I may just lose one of the small black box in the dark when keeping my stuff.

2) I have EQ-6 Pro, but I find the screwing it the DB9 plug of the controller a bit inconvenient. Is it possible to have a replacement kit, with DB9 to RJ45 adapter and a long "springy" RJ45 cable? That way, I can have the adapter permanently on EQ-6 and I just need to plug in the RJ45 cable.

Thanks for the attention.

Thank you for the suggestions.

1) This idea has been suggested a few other times to us, and indeed it was the original concept we had. However, most customers only want one or maybe two functions. So they would have to pay the price for a box that had more capability than they needed, and it would have made integrating it with the various third-party software packages a little messier. Thus we decided to sell each function separately.

2) That is an interesting idea. I'll look into it.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I would really like the EQ-6 Pro controller to be plugged in in a similar way like the HEQ-5.

Oh, is it possible to have DSLR 12V cigarette lighter power cables? (specifically Canon 350D) I know Hutech makes them, but I can't get easy contact with them. Oh, maybe it can even be modular:

Cigarette lighter plug ------> voltage adjustment box (for different DSLR) ------> "battery casing" for specific DSLRs

Sorry if I got carried away.

What about a GPUSB variant, that adds the shutter control to the GPUSB. Just need one extra output bit for the shutter and a new driver to make the notebook "think" that there´s one GPUSB and one DSUSB on the USB ports?
