Slow connection when using DSUSB on Nikon D5100

It takes a long time for my camera control software to connect to my Nikon D5100 camera. When I disable the DSUSB interface in the software and only use the USB connection, it connects quickly. It usually takes about 15 seconds to connect when using DSUSB. Anything special, drivers, configuration I need to speed up the connection?

I have not heard of a problem similar to this before. Unfortunately I have no idea why this would happen and how to begin trying to solve the problem.

Have you tried it on more than one computer?
