USB extension cable for USB2EQ6

I recently purchased the USB2EQ6 interface cable to connect my laptop to my EQ-G Go-To mount. Everything works fine with no problems. I would like to extend the interface cable. Am I likely to experience any problems if I use a USB extension cable?

Per the USB spec, you should be able to go up to 5 meters long without trouble. Anything longer than that should be designed with active electronics to maintain the signal integrity.
