EQDIR and Atlas EQ-G connection problem

Post by joe murray » Mon Aug 23, 2010 2:04 pm

Newbie question

I have purchased a EQDIR and have an Orion Atlas EQ-G mount. The PC has both Starry Night Pro and Sky 6 on it. I connected the computer and the mount through the EQDIR per the configuration options in the EQDIR manual but could not connect the PC and the Mount in either Starry Night or the Sky. I had also tried to connect the PC and the mount by way of FocusMax but also no connection. I had selected per the Atlas manual - Celestron NexStar 5i/8i. I also know that I was using the correct COM port number as I verified the port in the system folder/hardware.

Now the question - do I need to have another software package like EQMOD to achieve controlling of the mount by way of EQDIR and my PC program(s)?

Joe,

Sorry for my slow response. For some reason, I am not receiving notifications when new posts are put on the forum.

Yes, you'll need the EQMOD software to complete the setup. There is plenty of good documentation on the EQMOD Yahoo group http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/EQMOD/ to guide you through the process.
