Flat field correction in CS2?

Post by BBarker » Sat Mar 29, 2008 6:41 pm

Is there any way to do flat field correction in Photoshop CS2??? There is no divide blend function in the drop box. It seems very strange they left that one out!

Thanks for the help!

Never mind... I finally figured it out.

>Invert luminance layer
>Apply flat set to 'color burn'
>flatten image
>invert back

Shame on adobe for not putting a divide blending mode in there. Gimp has that mode, but it doesn't allow 16 bit files.
Of course I should probably just use Images Plus or the like, but I think there's something to be said for doing it yourself. Call me crazy.

Thanks anyway,
Brian

I think gimp is working on a 16-bit version.

Hi Doug! I'm still waiting on Meade BTW..

16bit in Gimp would be very nice, but I'm not holding my breath. I've seen several references to it on various pages, but it dates back several years. I'm not so sure they'll ever get around to it. That's a shame though, as it could speed up manual processing over photoshop. Aside from having that divide blend mode, I like that 'Open as layer' function. That eliminates the whole open > select all > copy > paste crap, and puts it all into one step. That's all really great, but no 16bit support ruins it.

I tried digging the net, but I can't find a plug-in anywhere for adding a divide blend mode. Anybody seen one?

Brian
