DSUSB + Canon EOS 350D + MaximDL = nothing

:?
I'm thinking about purchasing MaximDL because of the versatility and the compatibily with DSUSB Shutter Control.

So I had myself a little try-out using the MaximDL package from a friend.

DSUSB shutter controller plugged in (and tested as functional)
EOS350D plugged in PC and into DSUSB (functional with DSUSBcheck)
EOS350D set to:
-bulb exposure
-Pc connection
-Mirror lock-up off
-1/3 stop correction
-Manual focus

MaximDL does recognize the camera does not take long exposures. Up to 30 seconds everything is fine, anything above 30 seconds will start the exposure counter but will not fire the shutter. Tried every port setting, from com1 to com 16 but still nothing happens.

I tested the same configuration with DSLR Shutter from Stark Labs, and gues what? Long exposures without a flaw.

Anyone encountered this problem?

The DSUSB is not a com port device, so picking a com port will not connect to it. Clear at the bottom of the Shutter Release list (at least on my version 4.53 of MaximDL) you should find "DSUSB" This is what you'll need to select.

P.S. I am going to move this thread to the Shutter Control section of the support forums.

No DSUSB in Shutter Release list

Hi Doug,

I haven't got the program at hand now, but at the time we tested it there was no DSUSB in the Shutter Release list (Maxim DL ver. 4.51). Only COM1 to COM14 + USB + Parallel.

Kind regards,
Ron.

According to:
http://www.cyanogen.com/help/maximdl/Ma ... _Notes.htm
you'll need 4.54 or later.

DSUSB used to work up to version 4.56 but does not work in later versions of maxim dl unfortunately.

Please contact Cyanogen (the developers of Maxim DL) and let them know the details of the trouble you are experiencing.
