DSUSB2 - Not Recognized

I can't seem to get the DSUSB2 to be recognized by a computer in a usable way. I have tried it on 2 different Windows 10 machines, and both have the same results. I'm very new to astrophotography, so this very well may be something on my end.

Within APT, I see the following in the USB log:

However, when using APT with my camera (Nikon D7100) hooked up, it doesn't see a camera.

In an attempt to troubleshoot, I installed the DSUSB2 Check tool and get the following error:

Edit: I've also attempted to use it in Astroberry and it doesn't appear to be picked up there either. I'm much less confident in that statement as I'm very very new to Astroberry and may be missing something there.

Hmm... Seems strange that APT sees that it is plugged in but none of the software can link up to it. Give regular DSUSBCheck a try, just in case I built and labelled it inconsistently. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll get another one shipped to you to try.

Yeah that doesn't appear to work either; same error.

Well this is interesting. I unscrewed the case and unplugged/re-plugged the USB cable and now it's detected. So maybe a faulty connection there caused it?

Now when testing it, all of the LED functions work, as does the Assert and Open Shutter (camera is in bulb mode). However, when I hit Close Shutter it doesn't close the shutter; only the Deassert will close it.

I did some further testing. I've tried the USB cable that it came with as well as a known good one that I have laying around. Both appear to allow the DSUSB2 check tool to see it and manipulate the camera (with the caveats listed in the previous message).

I've attempted to hook it up via APT with the following settings:

The camera does not connect with these settings, and as far as I can tell from reading the APT guide, that should be all I need to do. As with before, APT is able to see the device.

Annnd I think I found the problem - PEBKAC at it's best! I didn't know I needed the nikon USB cable connected AS WELL AS the DSUSB2. I've ordered the proper cable and will update when I receive it. I'm fairly certain that will end up resolving my issues though.

Glad to hear that you have found the root cause. Thank you for posting the update.
