DSUSB2 not connecting Nikon camera

Hi, Due to my results I got from plugging in my DSUSB2 I understand this isn't your problem. I was hoping you might offer some ideas as to what else I might attempt in trying to get these items to communicate.

I have a Acer laptop I just restored to factory settings w/Win7 installed I have a telescope with my Nikon D7000 I wish to take astrophotos with using APT. PHD2 is being my guide along with Stellarium (maybe) and I'm using EQMOD as my main linkup

I had ordered a DSUSB2 from you since I liked the idea of a usb plug having it's own address (dsusb2) even though I am using only ONE dslr. My 2nd camera is my guide scope that is also usb (hence my logic in wanting dsusb2).
After many attempts in connecting I can not get that to happen on my laptop. Even when I check it using your "dsusb2 check". Under "device manager" I think I can see it enable and windows states that when I plug it in it is installing "proper adapters/drivers". Though in re-checking device manager it doesn't show any connection with a 2 (dsusb2) and it really doesn't show an added usb connection. Weird to me since when I plug in the FTDI cable it shows the updated link in device manager as it hooks right up.

I ran dsusbCheck and it failed to communicate.

So, as my final step I brought the cables/camera into the house to link to my desktop (win10). Voila'- hooks right up. And that was into a usb hub. On my laptop I'm going straight into a usb?!?!?

One issue of note, to me, is that neither my laptop or my desktop show an address of dsusb2 in the device manager

I'm at a loss. Only thing I have left to try is doing a re-install of the FTDI drivers (EQMOD DIR use and should not have anything to do with the usb issue) thinking that I had original installed them after doing the restore to my laptop of Win7. But a day later when I went to to on the laptop I had to wait for Win7 to reconfig after doing the 'latest' updates and I'm kinda hoping those updates kicked out the FTDI driver.

Would you happen to have any ideas?

Win 7 has been updated
ASCOM installed
EQMOD installed
PHD2 is able to connect to scope/guide camera
device manager states usb drivers are the latest

I tried to update both the usb drivers and the FTDI in 'device manager with no luck- all were current. Then I tried all three usb ports on the laptop (had already but..) then I even tried going thru a powered usb hub and moved it's plug to all three ports on the laptop. Nothing.

You are correct, the FTDI driver is not related to DSUSB/DSUSB2. As you have noted, your DSUSB2 must be OK since it works on the Win10 machine.

One thing you might try is DSLR Shutter from www.stark-labs.com. It has built-in support for the DSUSB/DSUSB2, not a separate driver. If that works, then it must be some interaction between Win 7 and the driver.
