DSUSB does not work on Fuji

Post by whwang » Sat Feb 15, 2020 1:55 am

Hi,

I hope this hasn't been asked before.

I have been using DSUSB to control Pentax 645z via Stark's DSLR Shutter (Mac) for years. It works very well. Now I am trying to establish a workflow for my Fujifilm GFX 50R. Unfortunately DSUSB fail to trigger the shutter of 50R. 645z and 50R share the same 2.5mm plug. What's funning is that a Pentax shutter release cable (the one in the left in the linked picture) can trigger shutter on both Pentax 645z and Fuji 50R, but DSUSB only works on the Pentax, not on the Fuji.

Anyway we can fix this? Thank you.

Hmm, this seems odd. I've not worked with anyone using a Fuji camera that I know of, but according to this webpage I would think it would be compatible:

The only thing I can suggest is to make sure the cable is completely seated coming out of the DSUSB. This has been a problem for some users.

Hi Doug,

Thank you for the reply. I tried two different cables, and the results are the same. In both trials, the side of the cable connected to DSUSB is untouched, and only the camera side changes. Both cable worked on Pentax, but not on the Fuji. I will keep trying, and I appreciate any more suggestions.

On a different topic. I use Mac for my imaging all the time. DSUSB works perfectly fine on my Mac when I use Stark's DSLR Shutter program (Mac Version) to control shutter through DSUSB. When I purchased DSUSB about five years ago, I remember that it also worked well in Windows (7) through Parallels Desktop on my Mac. But it was five years ago. I didn't use it in Windows for quite a long time. Recently, I tried to see if I can still use it in Windows (7) on my Mac and I failed. Windows 7 thinks it works/connects properly and does not show any complaints when I checked its driver compatibility. However, whenever I launched a program that tries to link to DSUSB, such as the Windows version of DSLR Shutter and DSUSBCheck, the program hangs there. For example, DSUSBCheck will not lunch at all, until I disconnect DSUSB from Windows. Do you know what's the cause?

Thanks.

For the cables, I don't have any other suggestions, especially since they work on one camera and you have tried two different cables.

For the Mac issue, I'm not sure what the problem would be. I don't have access to a Mac, so won't be able to try and duplicate the problem here.
