Have just sold my fixed observatory setup, which used an XP PC and an old Shoestring parallel port shutter control for my Canon Rebel/350D, which I now intend to use on a portable setup with an XP laptop. The parallel control worked so well I stuck with it and sold my DSUSB, and now I'm wondering whether I can use the parallel port shutter control with a USB-to-parallel adapter, as my laptop doesn't have a parallel port.
Cheers,
Bob Fuller

Re: Old parallel port shutter control with usb adapter?
Shoestring never made a parallel port adapter for shutter control. I suspect you got yours from Hap Griffin.
That being said, I don't believe you can use a USB-to-parallel port adapter to make this work. I know it does not work with our parallel port based guide port adapter (GPINT-PT), and I don't see how a shutter control would be much different.

Dear Doug,
Thanks; I wondered why there wasn't one in your product list....
