On an older laptop running Windows XP Home version - I have no problem connecting my Nikon D70 through Maxim DL utilizing my DSUSB
However, on my new laptop running Windows 7, I get the following message "Could not intialize CCD camera."
The settings were identical in both Laptops/Maxim; namely:
Camera - Nikon DSLR; D70/D70s
Shutter - Release DSUSB
Bulb type - IR
Image Mode - RAW
Bulb exposure - 30 and over.
The camera itself was on BULB
Any suggestion as to resolution - does Windows 7 work with DSUSB or do I need updated driver?
Joe

Re: Nikon D70; DSUSB and Windows 7 problem
The DSUSB does work on Windows and the drivers are built into MaximDL. If you are using a USB hub, you might try plugging camera and DSUSB directly into the PC.
Does the error message mean it can't connect to the DSUSB or the camera?
You might also try DSUSBCheck from our download page to see if the link between PC and DSUSB is good.

Re: Nikon D70; DSUSB and Windows 7 problem
Doug,
I was not using a HUB - the cables were plugged directly into the laptop.
I assume that the message refers to the camera and not to the DSUSB as it says "Could not intialize CCD camera."
I get mixed info from the DSUSBCheck. I cannot always switch from red to green and back again and turn the light on and off. However, sometimes I can trigger the shutter and then not.
My laptop is running 64 bit - is that a possible problem?

Doug,
First a correction to my prior response - I am repeating the entire response and bolding the correctionb

Re: Nikon D70; DSUSB and Windows 7 problem
We have had a few instances of trouble with Win64, but not consistent problems.
If you can control the LED, the the connection to the DSUSB is working. The inconsistent shutter control is probably because it takes a certain sequence of asserting and de-asserting the Shutter and Wakeup signals.
You'll have to check with the folks at Cyanogen regarding MaximDL's connection to the camera.
