DSUSB Windows 7 & XP mode
DSUSB Windows 7 & XP mode
I'm having trouble with DSUSB and XP mode under Windows 7.
I need to use XP mode as my 350D doesn't have drivers for Win 7 64bit.
The DSUSB is not recognised when I plug it into the computer (running Win 7 or XP mode). The DSUSB does work on another computer.
DSUSBCHECK also crashes when I try to run in under XP mode.
Any suggestions?

Re: DSUSB Windows 7 & XP mode
DT,
I've not tried this here myself. I'll give it a try, but I will be out of town for about a week, then catching up when I return. If I don't get back to you by the end of August, please send me a reminder.

Re: DSUSB Windows 7 & XP mode
David,
I have no trouble with my DSUSB and DSUSBCheck running under Windows7. I'm not sure what could be the trouble you are having in that case.
Unfortunately my only Windows7 machine is the Home Premium edition. Thus, I cannot run in XP mode. As I understand it, you must have the Professional, Ultimate, or Enterprise edition to run XP mode.
I wish I had a better answer for you. You might try posting to Cloudy Nights, Astromart, or the Stark Labs Yahoo group (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/star ... -software/) to see if other users have had a similar problem and found a solution.

Re: DSUSB Windows 7 & XP mode
Thanks Doug,
I think it's a lack of drivers with the device under XP mode.
I'll try Cloudynights.

Re: DSUSB Windows 7 & XP mode
We've used DSUSBCheck with Windows XP, Vista, and Win7 with no trouble. I would think that if something runs on an XP machine, it would also work under Win7 XP mode. I wish I had a machine here that I could try it on. If you do get to the bottom of this, please post your findings here for my benefit and for anyone else that might have trouble.
Thanks,
Thanks,

I probably didn't use the correct terminology.
You have to attach to the USB device when trying to use it in XP mode (so the computer know if you want to use it under XP or 7 - I think). The shutter controller doesn't appear in this list.

HID Device not recognized in XP Virtual Mode
Hi David,
Since I was experiencing the same problem you have, trying to get DSUSB working in an XP Virtual Mode enviroment (using Windows 7 Professional), I did some research.
According to Microsoft, Virtual PC doesn't allow redirection of HID devices (e.g. mouse, keyboards). Since DSUSB is registered as a HID Device Class unit, it will not work in Virtual XP Mode.
See this Microsoft thread to get more information on the issue:
