Re: Could not connect to EQ Mount
It looks like you have done everything correctly. Are you sure COM 6 is what the cable mapped to when it was installed?
You might try unplugging the cable, telling Windows to forget about COM 6, then plug the cable in again and see which COM port it maps too.
You might also try manually reassigning the COM port to some other number and then seeing if EQDIRCheck works.
Oh, and one other question just to be clear. The cable is plugged into the handcontroller port on the mount (not the port on the handcontroller itself)?

Re: Could not connect to EQ Mount
I am also in the same situation.
I'm on Windows 11, Have ASCOM drivers loaded for
I just received my USB2EQ5 cable, downloaded the FTDI driver. 2.12.36.4 The device manager allocated COM3 (Which stays in the list even when not plugged into the hand controller port) as the port when I plugged in the USB2EQ5 cable to the USB port and Mount hand controller port. I changed the baud rate to 115000 and verified the driver was FTDI.
ASCOM found COM3 I tried both of those ASCOM driver choices and but when I attempted to configure the SKYWATCHER mount driver, no COM ports showed up in the dropdown. I have tried BOTH USB ports on my laptop.
Trying to connect to it yields:
Create Creating device
Connected Connecting to device
Error System.ArgumentException: The PortName cannot be empty.

Dispose Disposing of device
Dispose Completed disposal
ReleaseComObject Releasing COM instance
ReleaseComObject Completed release. Count: 0

GC Collect Completed garbage collection
Quite frankly, I'm stumped. I have sucessfully controlled my EQ6r Pro, using a USB cable and the same Laptop and EQMOD ASCOM HE5/6 driver.
Can you give me more suggestions? (I have the logs and the images embedded above if they don't load that I could send).

Re: Could not connect to EQ Mount
I tried a second Shoestring Astronomy cable that for some reason I must have purchased. This one registered itself as COM7. I have the same result with connectivity.
I also tried Green Swamp Server, which did allow me to pick COM7, but still unable to connect.
So, No EMSCOM, and no GS Server.
