Do new mirrorless cameras still need Shoestring cables?

Post by abillionnewstars » Tue Apr 23, 2024 6:16 am

I am looking at getting a new mirrorless Nikon camera. Does it have the connector for a shoestring cable or does it rely only on USB? I couldn't find that info anywhere. My main goal are eclipses so I need the fast shutter action.

Thanks!

Either a Nikon z6 or Canon R7.

Per this:
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/accessor ... -REG-48203
the Nikon Z6 has the DC-2 connector on it, so the DSUSB with DSCBL-15 adapter cable should work.

Per this:
https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index? ... =ART182501
the Canon R7 has the 2.5mm audio jack on it, so the DSUSB with DSCBL-01 adapter cable should work.

I already have DUSB that I bought from you 8 years ago for a nikon d5100. Would it be compatible with those adapters?

The Canon R8 is also a possibility. I have been looking on the Canon website to find the connector needed but did not find it. Is it similar to the R7?

According to this:
https://www.eos-magazine.com/articles/r ... ility.html
the R8 has the same 2.5mm jack as the R7.
