GPUSB and USB3

As my USB2.0 laptop died I replaced with one that has USB3. Since when as soon as I try to connect the Mount (CGEM) in PHD through the Autoguide port I get the dreaded Blue Screen. I've tried reinstalling everything (all up to date) but same result.
PHD works OK when I connect through the handset using ASCOM.
As everything worked fine with my previous laptop, I wonder if it is due to the new one being USB3.
Any Ideas?
Ron

This is the first time I have heard of this problem. Unfortunately I do not have a USB3 machine here that I can check this out on.

USB3 is supposed to be backward compatible with the previous USB versions.

A couple of things you might try:

1) Try GPUSBCheck to see if you can communicate with the GPUSB. This can be downloaded at http://store.shoestringastronomy.com/do ... _setup.exe

2) Try our GPUSB ASCOM driver with PHD. The driver can be found at http://store.shoestringastronomy.com/do ... _setup.exe

3) Contact Craig Stark at www.stark-labs.com and see if he has any ideas why PHD is crashing.

Thank you Doug. I'll try those suggestions.
Meantime I have discovered that USB3 is not compatible with USB1.

Our devices are USB1.1, and USB3 should be compatible with those. One reference I found:

I'm curious to see what you find out.

Since found that nearly all USB 1.1 devices work with USB3.
In my case I have discovered that I have a USB2 port on my new laptop and last night (first clear night) I connected up to that and all worked correctly.
So I have not solved my USB 3 problem and I will pursue it on other forums as you suggested but meantime I wonder whether there is a conflict as I run 2 ccd's and the GPUSB through a 7 port D Link USB2 powered hub. I do also wonder whether my USB3 port is faulty - I'll look into that.
I'll let you know what I find out in the other forums. Meantime thanks for your help.
Ron
p.s. For you info I am running 2 Meade DSI's , one mono one colour in Nebulosity and PHD.

Having raised this matter elsewhere it would seem that whilst USB3 is supposed to be backwards compatible it does not always work with all devices.
I'm afraid this is not very positive but for me I have USB 2 also so the USB3 port is redundant at least for the time being.
Thanks for your interest and help
