Mosaic

Post by Dave Garten » Tue Dec 16, 2008 2:05 pm

Hello All
I have the newer losmandy g-11 goto mount. Been autoguideing great with the GPUSB and k3ccdtools with the meade DSI pro camra. My question is can I take a mosaic shot with this setup?

I am assuming you are talking about an automated mosaic where software moves the mount the proper distance between exposures. The GPUSB is typically used for the very small corrective movements that are necessary to correct the imperfect tracking of a mount, but it seems conceivable that it could also be used to push the scope to the next frame in a mosaic. I have not tried doing an automated mosaic myself, but I thought the mosaic software moved to the next frame by using the mount's GoTo feature, not the autoguide port.

Its probably best to ask tech support for the mosaic software you use to see if it they support moving the mount through the GPUSB.
