USB2EQ5?

I have a Orion HDX110 EQ-G mount.
I want to connect it to a computer.
Still not sure about all this, I haven't even decided on a computer.
But from what I've read, I need a cable like this to connect from the RJ45 port on the mount to the USB port on my computer.
Can anyone confirm this?

Then, not sure what's next. ASCOM driver? Then EQMOD? PHD?

Thanks for any help.

Since this mount uses the Synscan handcontroller, it should be compatible with EQMOD. Our USB2EQ5 adapter cable is the only hardware you will need. For software, you will need to install the ASCOM platform, the EQMOD ASCOM driver, and application software (such as PHD Guiding) that supports ASCOM. Sounds like you have a good understanding!

Hello Doug,

Well I got the cable and did all the downloads but I have not been able to connect at all.

I have downloaded the ASCOM driver for Skywatcher, but it does not give me the option for HDX110 or the EQ-8.

Now I feel like I have been chasing my tail downloading all these different things to try and get it to connect.

Do i now need to download a driver for the FTDI cable?

Do i have the correct cable? when I look through the COM PORT info the connect port says "USB serial converter"
So now I am I supposed to have the serial adapter for the USB cable.

I just want to delete everything and start over!! arghh!!!! hahaha,

Please help if you can.

Cheers
Ryan

Hi Ryan,

You will need an FTDI Virtual COM Port driver installed:
https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Let me know if that gets you going.

Also, I can do my best to troubleshoot hardware issues with you, but the best source for information and support for EQMOD in general is the EQMOD group found at this location:
