PC <> Mount Comms Issue

Post by jsirwin » Thu Oct 04, 2018 6:04 pm

For 3 years now I've been running an HDX110 mount using an USB-FTDI-RJ45 cable I built. Never had any issues. Opened EQMOD last weekend and continually got the error "cannot connect" when opening EQMOD via the EQASCOM toolbox.

I changed USB ports on the laptop, changed COM port numbers in device manager assuring that the EQASCOM "Driver Setup" port was always in sync. No dice

I updated the FTDI driver (as well as re-tried all the above ideas) and no dice.

I uninstalled ASCOM and EQMOD and reinstalled the most recent versions of both....no dice.

So I ordered a new USB2EQ5 cable assuming it must be that. The cord arrived today. I plugged in and no dice. Tried with all the previous ideas again and same result.

Frustrated I then brought in another W10 laptop and put the whole SW stack on that (ASCOM/EQMOD/FTDI). I plugged in the USB2EQ5 (laptop and mount) and ran the 'EQDIRCheck' and no dice...."could not connect to EQ mount" Verified ports in device manager and selected the same in the program.

I should also say that the hand-controller works perfect...so the actual port on the mount, and the mount itself seems to be ok.

I'm at the end of my line here. Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks

I am having the same issues.

Did you get an answer or did a new cable fix it?

Cheers
