BT2EQ5

Just got my BT2EQ5 and connected it and powered the mount. The light on it blinks like a usual BT device that is looking to be found, and I get it paired properly with my PC. After pairing, the light keeps blinking, makes me think they aren't really paired. When found, my PC reports it as EQ06 although it is EQ05. EQMOD does not launch properly similar to when the cable is not attached or the proper com port is not identified.

So I just realized that the BT device is not for EQMOD, and it is for a smart device. The website doesn't say that.

Can someone please let me know if I can use this with EQMOD? Thanks.

Yes, the BT2EQ devices are compatible with EQMOD.

Instructions can be found at:

In essence, once you pair the BT, it should appear as a COM port. Just connect to that COM port number though EQMOD like you would any other COM port device.

Doug,

I too have been trying to connect my BT3EQ5 ( with RJ45 male plug ) Bluetooth device to my AZ-EQ6 mount ( RJ45 female socket) .
Have gone through all the steps in your "BT2EQ5/ BT2EQ6 INTERFACE MODULE USER MANUAL ". My PC sees a Bluetooth device , "HC-06""
at port, COM-4 .
I have run the EQDIRCheck program with settings :
Port : com4
Baud Rate : 9600
Timeout : 1000
Retries : 1

EQDIR Check response is : " could not connect to EQ mount ""

I have tried various other settings but still com up with the same, no-connect response .
please advise
thanks

One of the biggest issues the Bluetooth connection has is latency in the link. If the link goes down for more than around 1 second, the "could not connect" error will occur. I see this sometimes even when I am doing testing of the products before shipment. On the EQMOD Yahoo group, there is a fair amount of advice on things to try to reduce this latency. I always recommend a wired solution (USB2EQ5 or USB2EQ6) instead of the Bluetooth devices unless you have an extreme need for a wireless connection because it can be tricky to get the BT to work reliably.

Another thing to check: The BT device should create two COM ports. Make sure you select the one that is labelled as the outgoing port.
