Hi,
I have an issue with one of these cables that is self induced. I've had a cable issue which has ripped the join in the cable. (all my fault - long story).
I've tried to put it back together again in the following way:
from the TTL-232R-5V cable I've terminated the following wires to a fresh RJ45 connection:
Black - Ground wire - RJ45 Pin 4
Yellow - RX Wire - RJ45 Pin5
Orange - TX Wire - RJ45 PIN 6
I put the cable back together in this configuration, put it on the mount and fired it all up - and voila - all was good the mount connected using EQMOD and slewed again - great I thought, shrinked up the cable and tidied it all up. Put it back into the loom, and nothing - not working.
Pulled it all apart again, found now obvious issues, re terminated with a fresh RJ45, checked the connections - all seemed to be connected to the correct terminals - but no action. Tried to run the mount with the standard control box - works 100%. Cable back - no good.
I thought I'd post here to make sure I'd done all the right things, I can't think of much more to try - but to me it appears I've killed the TTL-232R-5V cable - but before I ordered a new one, thought I'd check to make sure I wasn't doing anything silly.
The TTL-232 comes up under windows as a com port, and eqmod can see it but not connect to it giving me a 'Connect Error - Timeout' when I try to connect. I can only then guess that I've killed either a TX or RX line in the cable, or a driver on the chip.
When I put a meter over the connections GND to TX - I get a 5V signal, GND to RX I get nothing.
Any thoughts or input appreciated.
Jamie

Re: Problem with EQDIR - USB2EQ5 & AZ-EQ6-GT
I believe the black wire should go to pin 1, not pin 4.

thanks doug. I'll try that.
i have been able to confirm with a known working shoestring cable since and it works with that .. so I'll try re-terminating and with black in pin 1 and see how that goes.
Thanks again for your help!
