What do I need to autoguide on the Meade LXD75 mount? I have a Starlight Express MX916 cam, and also want to guide using SBIG equipment. What's required?
Thanks

To add a guide port to this mount, you will need Meade's 909 APM module. From Shoestring, you will need our GPUSB and one of our RJ12 cables (GPFC-7, GPFC-14, GPFC-25, GPCC-5, or GPCC-7).

Hi !
since the Meade #909 APM is no longer available...
would shoestring propose a clone or a GPUSB that directly plug into the AUX port ?

That would be a good product for us, however, I can find no good information on the protocol to communicate through the AUX port. If anyone has such information, please let me know.

Doug,
you should start here:

It would be very helpful, for those unfamiliar with a soldering iron,
to have a third party commercial product to replace the #909 APM.

Greetings,

Newbie warning on: :?

Is the 909 hooked through the Aux inferior to "converting" the EC hand controller with the ST4 kit?
Seems like the ST 4 port throwing the switches would be faster than the 909 issuing serial commands that have to be processed?
It is my understanding at least that the AUX port is nothing but a serial port which can be driven with a Keyspan USB to serial port adapter and a serial cable (meade or home made).

I have both an LXD75 and 55 mount the 75 has an autostar 497 HBX and the 55 has an EC HBX which I have opened.
The EC is DADs PCB REV D P/N 15-4501-00 copyright 1998 by Meade. Has anybody "converted" theirs that would like to share the details?

Stellar Skies,

Richard

It looks like someone has designed a Meade #909 APM clone, see:
