Hi,
I'm getting my cabling nightmare dealt with and wondering, is there another solution for the GPUSB interface and that little black box that comes with? I think the EQDIR is just a cable with the serial port (printer type port) at one end and USB at the other? Could that work for me instead?
I have been running EQMOD/ EQ6 (first generation) successfully for some years now, I think I purchased GPUSB from you guys around 2010. It works fine! But just recently started trying to clean up the cable mess and get more organized around the scope and mount. 2 cameras (electricity plus usb), auto focus, dew heaters, GPUSB, mount cables are giving me a virtual headache . I think cables hanging have also affected my guiding so trying to get organized. Are there any other simple solutions to GPUSB that will work in my situation? I just need a shorty cable to go from the mount up to the powered USB 3.0 hub that's attached ot the bottom of my AT8RC. So no cable would leave the mount except the USB 3 hub cable. A 3 foot cable would be just about right. Thanks for any suggestions.
Dan

Re: Can I swap GPUSB for EQDIR?
GPUSB only takes care of the autoguiding functions. I believe that autoguide packages that support ASCOM should be able to send autoguide commands through the EQDIR. I have not tried this myself, but since you already have EQMOD you could give it a try to see if that works.
