Doug, the link in your post above generates a "404 Not Found" error, and I suspect the link to Combined FCUSB/FCUSB2 ASCOM Driver v6.0.0 on your download page is not the fix version you're referring to here (6p1.exe).

I'm also trying to get an FCUSB to work with SGP, but it won't work with the combined driver on the download page.

Thanks in advance,

Neil.

Yes, the driver is now released and no longer at the link. You can find all drivers, including the Combined FCUSB driver, linked on this webpage:

Thanks Doug,I tried the Combined driver from the download page, but under SGP the motor would only move the focuser in one direction regardless of whether the "in" or "out" button is clicked. I've selected "absolute" rather than "relative", so based on the earlier posts in this thread it should work.

Works fine with BackyardEOS and APT...it's just SGP that seems to have an issue.

Thanks

Neil

I'm not sure about SGP, but with the software I tried, in absolute mode you would need to type in the position you want to go to. So, if you are currently at 5000 and you ask to go to 6000, the focuser should go in one direction. If instead you asked to go to 4000, the focuser should go in the other direction. Are you seeing the same direction regardless of whether the requested position is greater than or less than the current position?

Doug, it appears to be working now. Yes, I needed to understand the idea of assigning it a starting position, then telling the software to go to another position in relation to it. So all good on the benchtop, but now I have to see if my little Skywatcher focus motor will handle the load of a camera pointed skyward, but that's another story.

Thanks,
Neil.

I am trying to connect the FCUSB through SGP to setup autofocusing. I have been able to see the focusing chart in SGP but the focuser is not physically responding. Has anyone been able to get this autofocusing to work via SGP?

Thanks,
Richard W

To make sure this isn't an issue with the FCUSB, have you tried FocusPal that can be downloaded from the Shoestring Astronomy website?

Thanks for the suggestion to use FocusPal, I will give it a try. Has anyone gotten FCUSB to work with SGP and get autofocus to work?

Hi Doug,
I have been able to connect FCUSB and SGP together without an error message. I am now getting the V shape chart. But, the V shape is not generating a "V" shape but a more flat line. The process shows more than 100% complete and still running. When looking at the focus wheel there appears no movement of the focus wheel. After 10 minutes I shut down the process. Has anyone gotten this software to actually complete a focusing process?
Thanks
Richard
