Postby margazi » Mon Dec 28, 2009 5:16 pm

Are they compatible? Am looking at different options to motorize me GSO focuser that is on the AT6RC and was looking at the Rigel nFocus system. Thanks in advance

The Rigel nFocus is a focus motor controller. Any motor that can be controlled with the nFocus can also be controlled with our FCUSB.

Today I installed a nFocus focusmotor on my TS focuser. The motor control unit is driven by 3 1.5V (totalling 4.5V) batteries.
Question: Can I just unplug the small jack plug that comes from the motor on the focuser, and stick that in the FCusb? I don't need the motor controller anymore in that case right?
Question: Does the 5V from USB port have enough power to drive the nFocus focuser motor, or is it advisable to use an extra USB hub with external power supply?
gr. and thanks for your advice and the nice products you make.

Yes, you should be able to plug the motor directly into the FCUSB.

I don't know the exact specs on your motor, but it should be able to drive it. USB ports can supply up to 100mA of current.

Thanks, I installed the ascom driver for the FCusb and I think I can get that working also with FocusMax. I just ordered a FCUSB on your website. I hope to be able to experiment with it soon.
