DSUSB controller with no laptop

Post by Afro Boy » Fri Feb 18, 2011 1:50 am

G'day folks.

Is it possible to trigger the DSUSB-IR1 from another small "black box" instead of using a laptop?

I'm not sure of the internal functioning of the DSUSB, but simplistically speaking ... The DSUSB currently acts as a cable-release/remote which is triggered by a signal from a laptop. Is it possible to send the DSUSB a signal from a non-laptop source?

I was thinking a battery powered version of those automatic light timers or something similar. At a very basic version it could be a series of dials in which you enter the various parameters.
At a minimum, you would need to hold setting for:
  • Shutter depress/release
  • Wait time between shutter fires
  • Number of shots
Am I dreaming here or is something like this plausible?

Cheers,
Af.

We don't make such a beast, but there are "timer remote controls" already available on the market. Here is a smattering of them:

I own the TC-80N3, and it does what you are looking for. What I don't know is if anyone makes a version that uses IR instead of a wire.

Hope this helps,

G'day,

Is it achievable to set off the DSUSB-IR1 from another tiny "black box" in its place of using a laptop?
