Shoestring Astronomy Support

Is there a way other than the generic usb to RS232 adaptor typically sold in computer shops to connect a laptop to a celestron hand controller?
I have a new mac with an intel chipset and theres no way can I get a usb to 232 serial converter to work, the mac OS will not give up the usbs for anything other than the typical addressing used in todays devices ?

I'd buy your product if you had one?

Sorry, I am not aware of any other option. You might try posting to some of the more popular fora such as Cloudy Nights or Astromart. Surely someone else has conquered this problem.
