Satelite autoguider

Post by Reylocs » Mon Aug 20, 2007 6:22 pm

I hope this is in the correct place. (New product ideas)
I would like to see someone make an autoguider that plugs into the autoguiding port of a mount that will track satelites. Is this possible? I know I certianly would purchase one. It seems like someone would have already made this if it was simple and cost effective. Thanks

Not a bad idea, although the slew rate you get through an autoguide port is not nearly fast enough to keep up with a satellite (unless it geosynchronous). If you have a GOTO mount, there is software at http://www.heavenscape.com/ that is up to the task though!
