Re: Celestron AVX Mount and PhD2

If you have the Starshooter and you are trying to autoguide to improve tracking, you shouldn't need anything else. Just connect the autoguide port on the Starshooter to the autoguide port on the mount. PHD2 should be able to take it from there.

Re: Celestron AVX Mount and PhD2

Hi Frank, Just to be clear, which Shoestring cable are you referring to? If you have the GPUSB to interface to the guide port on the mount, then an RJ12 cable wired pin 1 to pin 1 (we sell the GPFC-7, GPFC-14, GPFC-25, GPCC-5, and GPCC-7) is needed between GPUSB and guide port. This is where it is c...

Thanks Geof and Bill for the follow up posts. This information could easily be useful to others too.

Re: DSUSB not working in ImagesPlus Camera Control

Apologies Geof. When I read that you had success with DSUSBCheck, I thought you were on the way to getting everything to work. I don't have ImagesPlus, so helping with that will be difficult. In DSLRShutter, did you click the "File" menu, then select "AF during Exposure", since that is what worked w...

Re: DSUSB not working in ImagesPlus Camera Control

Different cameras seem to use different combinations of Wakeup and Shutter to fire the shutter. I don't think what you observed is unusual. Enjoy!

Re: DSUSB not working in ImagesPlus Camera Control

Hi Geof, With the camera in bulb mode, from DSUSBCheck, first click Assert "AF/Wakeup", then click "Open Shutter". Some cameras require both signals to be asserted. If that works to open the shutter, then the DSUSB is OK and it would be something about the configuration in ImagesPlus. You might also...

Re: USB2EQ5?

Hi Ryan, You will need an FTDI Virtual COM Port driver installed: https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm Let me know if that gets you going. Also, I can do my best to troubleshoot hardware issues with you, but the best source for information and support for EQMOD in general is the EQMOD group foun...

Re: RJ-12 to USB 2.0

We have the USB2RJ12 adapter cable. It is intended for EQMOD direct control for Skywatcher AZ-GTi mounts. Is that what you are looking for?

Re: Meade Micro Focuser

From what I read, SGPro supports ASCOM, our FCUSB focus motor interface supports the Meade Micro Focuser, and our FCUSB ASCOM driver is available. So, in theory, they should all play together.

Re: USB2EQ5 random disconnects

Ground loops can be difficult to diagnose. It could be the mount supply, the laptop supply, the wiring in your house, a plug strip if you are using one. The only think I can suggest is trying to replace what you are able to until it goes away. You can try a plug checker to make sure the wiring in yo...

Re: USB2EQ5 random disconnects

I've not heard of any issues like this until now. The USB2EQ5 does not provide any power to the mount. Given that the mount power supply is 12.5V but the mount is reporting 11.8V at rest, then dropping down to 10.5V during a slew where more current is drawn, I'd suspect something that is creating ex...

Re: USB2EQ5?

Since this mount uses the Synscan handcontroller, it should be compatible with EQMOD. Our USB2EQ5 adapter cable is the only hardware you will need. For software, you will need to install the ASCOM platform, the EQMOD ASCOM driver, and application software (such as PHD Guiding) that supports ASCOM. S...

Re: DSUSB2 - Not Recognized

Hmm... Seems strange that APT sees that it is plugged in but none of the software can link up to it. Give regular DSUSBCheck a try, just in case I built and labelled it inconsistently. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll get another one shipped to you to try.

Re: Televue Focusmaster not responding to left movement command

This sounds like one of the transistors in the motor drive circuit has failed. This should be repairable. Please open the case and take pictures of the top and bottom of the printed circuit board, then send those by email to doug@shoestringastronomy.com

Thank you.
