One thing to try is to make sure your parallel port is set to EPP mode. This is usually done in the BIOS setup. If that doesn't solve the problem, let me know.

Unfortunately, this is not possible from the same computer. This is a downfall of USB in general, it is very difficult to differentiate between two identical devices plugged into the same computer. We are working on ways to try and solve this problem, but have not come up with an elegant solution ye...

I believe PHD Guiding will stack images also. From the PHD Guiding webpage http://www.stark-labs.com/phdguiding.html, in the features list it says "Stacking shorter subframes on the fly to extend effective exposure duration on short-exposure cameras"

The Starbook controller has a guide port built into it, so the GPUSB should work with the Starbook/Sphinx combination.

Rosendo, I don't think this will be possible. The LXD75 does not have an autoguide port, so you can't connect up that way. Furthermore, Metaguide does not support ASCOM telescope drivers. If it did, then you could use your existing setup via the serial port. You might think about trying PHD Guiding ...

oldfield, Page 5 of this document is exactly what I need. I have a lot of other projects going on right now, so it may be months before I could even think of getting to this, but I will consider it. If nothing else, I think the handcontroller can be modified to add an ST-4 compatible guide port. How...

Do you have any technical information (pinouts, schematics) for the hand paddle jack on this mount?

Kent,

Bill has already tried the ASCOM driver that I modified and it did not solve the problem. I am going to attempt to write a CCDSoft FocusAPI explicitly for the PCFC and FCUSB, but it may be a while before I get to it. Do you have any other software you can use until it is ready?

Bill, I'll modify the ASCOM driver so that it reports "position" and email it to you to give a try. I probably won't get to it until Sunday at the earliest. This will not indicate the actual position, but an approximate position based upon how much time in milliseconds the motor has been asked to mo...

Marco, This should work just fine. However, one thing to keep in mind with USB, if you run out of ports you can always add a hub. On my own permanent setup, I keep the hub strapped to the pier and all the USB gadgets plugged into it. Then, when I walk out for an imaging session with the laptop, all ...

Bill, After some dialogue with Software Bisque tech support and the fellow that wrote the FocusAPI that allows ASCOM drivers to work with CCDSoft, I don't think there is a quick and easy solution to this problem. CCDSoft expects a focuser to be able to report its position. Because the FCUSB has no k...
