Re: Combined driver

The combined driver is still linked on our Downloads page: http://store.shoestringastronomy.com/downloads.htm Specifically: http://store.shoestringastronomy.com/downloads/Shoestring_FCUSB_Combined_Setup.exe About every 5 years, I do get asked for an FCUSB3. The amount of extra work it would take to ...

Re: Problem with TeleVue Focus Master

Let's cover the deep software aspects via email at doug@shoestringastronomy.com As for the USB connection, a powered hub is usually best since these focus motor controllers can take the entire 100mA allowed out of the port during motor start. If your hub is powered and that doesn't help, then it sou...

I believe that should work as long as you make sure each PC is paired to the correct device.

Re: Losmandy G11 and ZWO ASI174

I am not familiar enough with the G11 to know if just a splitter will work. Our GPUSB product will work for sure.

Re: DSUSB has stopped controlling the shutter on D7000

To be absolutely sure, you will need to short both the tip and the ring to the shield, all at the same time.

Re: which part needed for my new EQ5 mount

If you only want to do autoguiding, then the GPUSB is all you need. If you want to include the features that the EQMOD ASCOM driver can add to your equipment, then you would need to add the USB2EQ5.

Re: DSUSB has stopped controlling the shutter on D7000

Each camera is different, but if you short all three terminals together, that should fire the shutter on most cameras.
FYI: "Focus" or "Wakeup" is done when ring is shorted to shield, "Shutter" is when tip is shorted to shield. Shorting all three together tells it to wake up and fire shutter.

Re: DSUSB has stopped controlling the shutter on D7000

My guess is that the cables between DSUSB and camera have fatigued and failed. If you look closely near the ends of the cables, can you see any signs of fatigue?

Re: Problem with EQDIR

Glad to hear that the cable is working with your application. Since it works with your app, then the USB2EQ driver and ASCOM must be working correctly. If you have the correct COM port selected in EQDIRCheck, I'm not sure why it would not work. It is just a debugging tool though, glad to hear that y...

Re: Problem with EQDIR

With EQDIRCheck, you need to select the COM port that the USB2EQ device is mapped to. Prior to that, you need to download and install the USB2EQ device driver and the ASCOM platform. Have you done all of these?

Re: Connector "like" the EQCBL-01

Do you need this connector on the end of the EQCBL-01? If so, what two things are you connecting together? What pinout do you need? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to be sure you are using the product properly. Just because a connector is the same does not mean the signal levels and communic...

I'm not a much of an expert on EQx mounts, but full remote control boils down to which handset you have. Could you provide a picture to help clarify this?

Re: Question about the EQDIR

The best option is the USB2EQ5 cable that we sell. The only reason you would want a EQDIR/EQCBL-01 combination is if you want to run a cable further than 15 feet.
